AT Online finally has a new layout thanks to the ever talented Courtney. The last one was up since the site turned five in 2013 so I figured it was time for something different. The main site, gallery and video archive will all have matching layouts. The gallery and main site have already been changed and the video archive will be in the next couple of days. I’ve changed a few things around, updated the con list, etc. Let me know if you run into any problems or see something I missed.
The last fundraiser we did was held the last night of the Stargate Chicago Con in August and combined with the online portion, raised an amazing amount of money for Sanctuary for Kids. This was in large part due to Paula’s generous donation of props for an auction. A few of you might be aware that the reason we decided to do a live in-person event was that it was suppose to be the last Stargate convention. Obviously that wasn’t the case as there’s going to be another one this year. We were very much on the fence about attending again but with the recent announcement that Amanda was booked as a guest, I can’t even begin to tell you how quickly two tickets were bought. This of course led to a bunch of hemming and hawing about another event. Do we? Don’t we? What if no one shows up? Pretty much everything that went through our minds last time. The only thing we have on our side (besides you guys) is that this won’t be our first time anymore. We learned a lot last time, including the fact that the auction of props is what made it such a huge success. That being said, I’m going to be completely honest. We’ve decided that we’d hold another fundraiser like last year if we could collect some props to auction off. They don’t have to be Stargate/Amanda related, in fact the item which caused the biggest bidding war (and resulted in me having to watch Farscape) was a picture autographed by the entire cast of Farscape. If anyone has anything they’d like to donate as an auction item, we’d be eternally grateful. You have a few months to think about it but know that if you do decide you have anything you’d like to donate (whether you’re attending or not) we’d make sure that it wouldn’t go for anything less than what you think it should.
If you have any questions or want to get in contact with me, send an email to email@example.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
It’s that time again, my favorite fundraiser is back (with a few changes). Sanctuary for Kids launched its winter fundraising campaign today, ‘Pieces and Places.’ In years past they did the house campaigns where you can donate money as a group to buy bricks and the bricks form a house. This time it’s a little different. Instead of bricks, we make puzzles pieces and instead of houses, we form puzzles. The end result is the same but they’re switching it up on us this time.
For those of you that are new to this fundraiser, it’s really quite simple. When you go to the Sanctuary for Kids website to make a donation, just put what your donation is going towards in the comment box. I’ve contacted Sanctuary for Kids and sent them the group name Mutu (it means heart in Nepali) so anyone who would like to take part in this puzzle building group would put that the donation is going towards building the Mutu Puzzle. That’s all there is to it. You may donate any amount you like, as many times as you’d like.
For every $20 raised per group, you get a puzzle piece. There are 50 pieces per puzzle so each puzzle is $1,000. That’s half of what a house was so I know we can build at least one puzzle together. I say we shoot for two puzzles though. If we manage to build two or more puzzles, I’ll try to find something cool to give away. The campaign runs from now until February 14th so we have plenty of time to build a whole bunch of puzzles together.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email, twitter or facebook and I’ll try to help.
I can’t wait to see all what all the puzzles are going to be!
I’ve added captures from Amanda’s debut episode of Package Deal to the gallery. I think we’re going to enjoy her character, I know that I certainly did.
